Well done, Ms. Get that second book out there.

I'm waiting. Apr 30, Cat rated it liked it. I really liked the idea of the 'burned' CIA agent trying to figure out what to do with her life afterwards. Add in her crazy, yet loving family and you've got yourself a great formula. The characters were pretty much all likable, though I did find the heroine of this story a bit dumb.

Who is Publishing NSA and CIA Secrets, and Why? - Schneier on Security

In fact, as a former CIA agent you'd think she be on her game more, especially when she starts noticing that she's not up to par with her skills i. I found that to be really stupid, a tad unbelievable, and very annoying as the book progressed. Overall I liked the story, and the editing was decent. There's quite a bit of romance, swearing, and mystery going on, though as the reader I felt like I picked up on more clues than Kayla did seriously the note came with initials on it!

Recommend it? Sure - it's a lighthearted, and fairly quick, read. Jan 17, Danielle Young rated it it was ok. Oh, what? Or do you want it to be chock full of adorable mothers, cop brothers, dueling love interests, a splash of magic, PLUS multiplying the helpless puppies by 17? You've found an almost Oh, what? You've found an almost winner. Perfectly acceptable perhaps only?

May 04, Summer rated it liked it. This book surprised me. I read it because I had grabbed the electronic version for really cheap free, if I recall correctly and needed something to read while waiting for another e-book to release. This book grabbed me from the beginning and within a day I had hit the end and wanted more.

Kayla is a character I felt I could relate to on a few levels in spite of having never been a CIA a This book surprised me. Kayla is a character I felt I could relate to on a few levels in spite of having never been a CIA assassin. She is witty and brainy and approaches life with a certain level of snark that I can appreciate. The romance in the book is not heavy handed at all.

If you are looking for something a little different and in the light reading category give this book a try.

Jan 13, Kathy rated it liked it. She wakes up in the hospital after being shot point blank in the chest. Her biggest problem isn't her recovery, it's the fact that she's been fired by the CIA for botching a mission that she can't remember anything about. As Kayla tries to go back to a "normal" life, a paranormal element is added to the story as she finds she has the power to influence others and telepathic skills with others who are gifted.

  • The Incredible Rockhead: Rock, Paper, Scissorlegz.
  • Page-turners under $5!

Surprisingly considering how many paranormal books I read, I wish that part of the story had been left out. The spy story was good enough to stand on its own. Mar 08, Jayme Langhorst rated it it was ok. I liked the book. It was quirky and I found the overall writing style fun.

Two things bothered me enough to go from 3 stars to 2. First, there are several parts of the books that seem pointless to even include.

Why Stalkers Stalk—and What to Do If You’re a Victim

It was a bit like watching a squirrel run around the same tree. I know who she meant, but shouldn't an author be I liked the book. That rubbed me the wrong way. I'll probably give the second book in the series a chance, nonetheless. Feb 11, Sylvia rated it it was ok. Quick, silly read for a lazy Sunday morning or on vacation lying on the beach. I sometimes need to break up the serious reads with some trashy, chic lit featuring woman trying to choose between the hot men who love them and, in this case, happen to be a trained CIA assassin.

But I'll probably pick up the second one to check it out.

Jan 08, Leigh Mitchell rated it liked it. It did pick up somewhere after the halfway point like another reviewer has said but I feel it wasn't as good as I thought it would be - thought it would be faster paced but the early part just plodded along with not much going on. Will I buy the sequel when it comes out? My rating would be 2. Feb 19, Kiahana rated it liked it. The only reason i gave this a 3-star review was because I'm a diehard for true romance stories and in this book, the heorine was making her decision between two men.

Two completely opposite men, so I do understand the purpose of the dilema. Sep 03, Natalie rated it it was ok Shelves: mystery , thriller , adult-fiction , female-authors , on-my-kindle , zreads , paranormal , freebies , romance. I didn't really like it.

Film Review: Killers Anonymous’

For a top notch spy, I felt like every example or opportunity given, she screwed up in some way. Then the whole view spoiler [fantasy hide spoiler ] lost me. I will not be continuing with the series. Aug 19, Jennifer rated it it was amazing.

I got this book as a freebie but will gladly pay for the next books in this series! There was a lot of surprises that I didn't see coming and the humor was fantastic!

My favorite is the 12 step program to stop being an assassin. Jan 01, Anna Vasalaki rated it it was amazing Shelves: fun-fiction. Fresh, amusing story and enjoyable style of writing. I got the 1st book as a kindle download for free, and I just bought the 2nd book of the series. It could use a little more proof-reading though. Dmitri is once referred to as "Dominic" auto-correct demon?
